Pilgrimage Route | 7 nights
This route will take you on a journey of discovery to some of the most representative areas on the Camino de Santiago route, ending in Santiago de Compostela. You may visit the Apostle's tomb and win the Jubilee in the World Heritage City. Become a pilgrim!
The route includes the following Paradores:
León: First and second days
León is a city of incomparable beauty, closely linked to the Camino de Santiago (the Way of Saint James, a pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela). Its offers any number of places of interest, including Sta. María Cathedral, San Isidoro Basilica and Hostal de San Marcos itself. The palace of the Guzman family, Botines House, San Marcelo Church, Sta. Ana Church, the Main Square (Plaza Mayor), and Roman walls are just a sample of the important sights in the city.
Villafranca: Third and fourth days
An important milestone along the Camino de Santiago, and the last part of the route in the province of León, Villafranca was declared a site of historic and artistic interest in 1965. Among its many monuments, the Santiago and La Colegiata churches are of special note, as are San Francisco and La Anunciada Convents.
Pontevedra: Fifth day
Pontevedra offers an extremely beautiful old quarter. Highlights include Cinco Ruas Square, Sta. María a Mayor Basilica, Do Peirao Square, Do Burgo Bridge, De Pedreia Square, and more. We also recommend visiting nearby towns such as Crove, San Xenso, la Toja and Combarro, with their ancient hórreos (raised granaries), as well as Pontevedra itself.
Cambados: Sixth day
In Cambados you can explore Fefiñanes pazo (country house) and San Benito Church, or the ruins of Sta. Mariña. In this land of wines, vineyards with the Albariño denominación de origen are of special interest to visitors. We also recommend local towns such as Crove, San Xenso, la Toja and Combarro, with their ancient hórreos (raised granaries), as well as nearby Pontevedra, with its old quarter.
Santiago: Seventh day
Santiago is a World Heritage City, and offers travelers any number of sites to visit: Obradoiro Square with its beautiful cathedral, the university’s square, the ruas along which you can stroll and experience the life of the city’s inhabitants, palaces and churches, and museums such as the cathedral museum, Museum of the Galician People, or the Galician Center for Contemporary Art. You cannot help but be seduced by this city.
